Manual focus R-mount 35mm SLR camera introduced by Leica in 2002. The R9 improved upon the R8 with some added features in a lighter body. It has an additional exposure counter on the top cover, an illuminated back display that shows film ISO, and a mode selector that now locks in place. The multi-pattern metering was upgraded to measure exposure down to tenths of an f-stop. The camera is compatible with ROM Cam lenses with electrical contacts for the transmission of data and signals between the camera and the lenses. Metal and plastic body available in black (10091).
