Staff Notes

The mechanisms have been cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted as necessary. The inner elements have been cleaned.

The aperture ring works a bit strangely. It works normally from f2.8 to f16, but going from f2.8 to f2 requires small motions back and forth. It has to be sort of nestled into place. It's quite annoying. There is minor coating damage on the lens that won't affect image quality. It shows moderate external wear but otherwise works normally.

Leica 35mm f2 Summicron (Type I) (8-Element) (Silver, SAWOM / 11308) - Lens

Manual focus wide normal lens made for M-mount rangefinder cameras introduced by Leica in 1958. This was the first version of the 35mm Summicron that Leica released for the M2 and M1. This version has an 8-element optical formula and is often referred to as the "v1 8-element" Summicron. It was initially named SAWOO-M but later changed to SAWOM. It is occasionally seen with a factory-fitted screw-to-bayonet adapter, indicating that the lens was initially built upon the chassis of the LTM M39 mount version (SAWO / 11008). Metal body available in silver.
