Manual focus M-mount 35mm rangefinder camera introduced by Leica in 2003. The MP6 is a special version of the 2003 Leica MP and was exclusively manufactured for the Japanese market. It comes with classic vulcanite leather as found on earlier Leica cameras. Some later units also had the same ISO dial as seen on the M6. It was made in a small batch of only 250 to 400 units. The normal 2003 MP is a new modern version of the original MP from 1956. This time, the “MP” stands for “Mechanical Perfection”. It features fully mechanical controls akin to the M3 and a built-in TTL exposure meter similar to that on the M6. It is compatible with the LEICAVIT-M rapid film advancer accessory. Leica offered these cameras "à la carte" for a period, allowing customization of colors, features, finders, and materials. The available viewfinder magnifications were: 0.58x, 0.72x, and 0.85x. This is the 0.72x version with frame lines for 28/90mm, 35/135mm, and 50/75mm. The MP6 was, however, only available in black paint with a 0.72x viewfinder. Metal body available in black paint (10311).
