Manual focus M-mount 35mm camera released by Leica in 1966. The MDa is a follow-up to the original MD, now built upon the M4 instead of the M2. It is a specialty camera intended for scientific applications such as photomicroscopy. The body lacks the viewfinder, rangefinder, field frame selector, and self-timer. This version of the camera has a standard baseplate that does not accommodate the 4mm plastic marker strips. Metal body available in silver (10913).
