Manual focus reflex telephoto lens made for F-mount 35mm SLRs by Nikon. It replaced the older 500mm f5.6 in 1968, trading speed for smaller size. The lens stayed in production for over 20 years with no changes, except for some minor variations to the engraving and the addition of multicoating. It uses 39mm rear-mounted filters. Metal body available in black.
