Manual focus R-mount 35mm SLR camera introduced by Leica in 1996. The R8 was a completely new design of the R-series of cameras, both technically and aesthetically. The design was developed in-house by Leica, which no longer had a connection with Minolta for the development of the R cameras. It features a top shutter speed of 1/8000s and has a new multi-pattern metering system capable of spot, center-weighted, and matrix metering modes. The camera is compatible with ROM Cam lenses with electrical contacts for the transmission of data and signals between the camera and the lenses. Metal and plastic body available in black (10081).
