Manual focus R-mount 35mm SLR camera introduced by Leica in 1983. The R4s is a simplified version of the R4. It removed the program and time priority modes and only offered the aperture-priority auto and manual exposure modes. The shutter speed is not visible in the viewfinder when the camera is set to manual mode. The original R4 was developed in collaboration with Minolta and incorporated selected Minolta XD11 electronics and body parts to deliver a more compact and lighter camera than the earlier R3. It uses two S76 (SR44) batteries. The camera is compatible with 3-Cam and 3rd Cam lenses that transmit both maximum and set apertures to the TTL exposure meter. It is compatible with the Leica R Motor Winder. Metal and plastic body available in black (10045).
