GOMZ Sport - Camera
Model Details
35mm manual focus SLR camera made by GOMZ between 1936 and 1941. It’s debated if the Kine Exakta or the Sport was the first 35mm SLR camera that was widely available. In design-wise the first versions of the Sport were made in 1929 when the camera was called ”Gelveta” but the real mass production started around the same time as the Kine Exakta's in 1936.
Unlike what we are used to with later 35mm SLR cameras, the viewing is through the top and the image seen is reversed. The lens is 50mm f3.5 Industar with helical type focusing. While the camera was designed to have interchangeable lenses, more were never made. On the right-hand side, there is a combined shutter speed dial and film winding knob which also operates the mirror mechanism. Metal body in black finish.
