Manual focus wide normal M-mount lens made for rangefinder cameras introduced by Leica starting in 1961. This was the first 35mm f1.4 Summilux that Leica made. It was made for the M2 and uses 7 spherical elements. This Type I lens uses E41 filters and the OLLUX 12522 hood. It was later changed in 1966 (Type II) to use Series VII filters and the 12504 hood. All Type I lenses have an infinity lock and the so-called Steel Rim. Metal body available in silver. (11870).
