Details: Robot Royal 24 Mod. III + 40mm f1.9 Xenon

Mechanical clockwork camera with coupled rangefinder that shoots 24x24mm frames on 35mm film. Capable of up to 8 frames/second in burst mode thanks to spring operated automatic frame advancing.

Manual focus normal lens made by Schneider-Kreuznach for the Robot cameras. Some models have a bayonet mount and some have a screw mount. Metal body available in silver.

Robot

Robot was a long-standing camera manufacturer from Germany who produced unique clockwork cameras from the 1930s onward. These cameras were defined by unusual formats (many Robot cameras take 24x24mm square images) and by their spring-loaded shutters.

These special shutters allowed Robot cameras an early form of continuous shooting, where multiple shots could be pre-wound and taken in quick succession. While this limited the Robot's mass appeal, it secured them a niche that would remain unchallenged for years to come.
