Staff Notes

The shutter does not work correctly, it stays open upon release and the second curtain does not move at all. The curtains are in poor condition. The frame counter is stuck. The camera has some general wear from use with dents around the body and cracked vulcanite. The aperture in the lens is very stiff. It also has some minor scratches on the optics that will not affect image quality.

Leica MD Postcamera (24 x 36mm) - Camera

Manual focus M-mount 35mm camera introduced by Leica in 1964. The Leica Postcameras were used throughout Europe to produce photographic records of the number of telephone calls in a district. They were modified MD, MDa, and MD-2 housings and were available in a 24 x 27mm or 24 x 36mm format. They were supplied with special fixed-focus lenses. The original MD is a specialty camera intended for scientific applications such as photomicroscopy. The body resembles the M2 but lacks the viewfinder and rangefinder. Metal body available in silver.
