Manual focus APS-H M-mount digital rangefinder camera released by Leica in 2008. The M8u is the result of an upgrade program for the M8 that Leica announced on 31 January 2008. They offered several upgrades to owners of the original M8 that could be installed, thus making the camera an M8u. The most common upgrade was an improved shutter designed for quieter operation, at the cost of a slower maximum shutter speed of 1/4000s. Other upgrades included a sapphire glass LCD cover and more accurate and brighter frame lines in the viewfinder. The viewfinder still has a magnification of 0.68x and framelines for 24/35mm, 28/90mm, and 50/75mm. Metal body available in black (10701).
