Cameras for scanning and normal photographic purposes have different requirements, though there is some overlap. Even a relatively affordable and older camera can deliver excellent scanning results. Upgrading other scanning components often improves quality more than the camera itself. Full-frame sensors offer little advantage over APS-C for scanning. Cameras with electronic shutters/front curtains deliver better scans. All the cameras handpicked here are, under the right conditions, good enough to draw most of the quality out of a normal 35mm frame.
