Manual focus 35mm R-mount SLR camera introduced by Leica in 1964. This was Leica's first SLR and the debut of the R bayonet. It has a CdS light meter that views through a hole in the prism rather than through the lens. The camera experienced a few design changes throughout production: The frame counter changed from pie-shaped to round, the tripod mount got incorporated into the base instead of being fastened by screws, and a meter cut-off switch was added to the advance lever. The camera is compatible with 1-Cam lenses. Metal body available in silver and black (10001).
