Manual focus normal collapsible lens made for LTM M39 thread mount 35mm rangefinder cameras by Leica starting in 1930. The 50mm f3.5 Elmar was the first standard lens made for the Leica system. It underwent many changes during its production, from its initial computation in 1923 to the end of production in 1959. This version of the lens was introduced in 1930 in a non-standardized mount for the Leica C. The lenses and cameras were factory matched and would not function correctly on other units. It has no infinity lock, but does have a fixed knob and infinity setting at the 7 O'clock position. In 1951, a new optical formula was introduced (Type II). Metal body available in nickel.
