Model Details

Manual focus telephoto lens made for R-mount 35mm SLR cameras introduced by Leica in 1964. Leica made two versions of this lens. This is the first version that uses Series VII filters and has a multistage built-in lens hood. Lenses after serial number 2809001 use E55 filters and the Elpro 3 close-up attachment instead of the Elpro VIIa. This lens has a 2-Cam mount. 2-Cam lenses have two sloped cams and are compatible with the standard Leicaflex and R-series cameras in stop-down metering mode only. They are not recommended to be used on the R8/R9. Metal body available in black (11239).

Leica R

Leica introduced the R system in 1964 as an alternative to their M mount rangefinders and as a response to the successful SLR systems of the time, including Nikon F and Pentax M42. The R system was produced, with some modifications, until 2009.
