Zenit 3 - Camera
Manual focus 35mm M39 mount SLR camera released by KMZ between 1960 and 1962. The successor to the Zenit S from 1955 with an added self-timer and a shutter cocking lever instead of a knob. Because of flange distance differences, this camera cannot use M39 rangefinder lenses. Only special M39 SLR lenses can be used. Metal body available in silver.
- Shutter: Horizontal cloth focal plane, 1/30s - 1/500s + B
- Size: 135 x 91 x 53mm
- Weight: 587g
M39 SLR
M39 SLRs use the same 39mm screw mount as early Leica cameras and their various copies. The only difference is the mirror in between, which makes rangefinder lenses unusable on SLRs and vice versa. This mount was only used in the Soviet Union for a few early Zenit cameras before they switched to M42 screw mount.
M39 SLR lenses will not focus properly on LTM rangefinder cameras.
