Collection: Digital Cameras

Digital cameras had been the dream of engineers around the world since the 1960s, but the technology wasn't truly viable until the 1990s. Since then, they have become the dominant camera type in the world. Most people today carry a digital camera everywhere they go in the form of a smartphone.

Digital cameras use an electronic sensor to capture images rather than a piece of photosensitive chemicals. Light is interpreted by this sensor into the 1s and 0s of a digital file, which can then be viewed on a computer, on a camera’s screen, or in a physical print.

Digital cameras generally use some form of internal storage media, like an SD card, to store photos and data. Many of them also use rechargeable batteries and digital screens for image playback, live view, etc.
