Model Details

Manual focus telephoto lens made for R-mount 35mm SLR cameras introduced by Leica in 1980. Leica made two versions of this lens. This second version of the lens is considerably lighter and more compact than the first version. It no longer has a tripod mount, uses 67mm screw-in filters, and incorporates thinner glass elements that both enhance performance and reduce weight. It has a built-in lens hood and a 14-degree angle of view. This lens has a 3-Cam mount. 3-Cam lenses have two sloped cams and a third stepped cam and are compatible with all Leicaflex and R-series cameras. Metal body available in black (11923).

Leica R

Leica introduced the R system in 1964 as an alternative to their M mount rangefinders and as a response to the successful SLR systems of the time, including Nikon F and Pentax M42. The R system was produced, with some modifications, until 2009.

Most R mount lenses can be used on any R mount camera, but there are compatibility issues with both the oldest and newest lenses. Over time, Leica added features and technology to the lenses that made them incompatible.
