Model Details
Manual focus telephoto lens made for R-mount 35mm SLR cameras introduced by Leica in 1970. It has a built-in lens hood and uses the Elpro VIIa close-up attachment for a reproduction ratio up to 1:3. Lenses after serial number 2770951 use E55 filters (instead of series VII) and the Elpro 3. This lens has a 3-Cam mount. 3-Cam lenses have two sloped cams and a third stepped cam and are compatible with all Leicaflex and R-series cameras. Metal body available in black (11219).

Leica introduced the R system in 1964 as an alternative to their M mount rangefinders and as a response to the successful SLR systems of the time, including Nikon F and Pentax M42. The R system was produced, with some modifications, until 2009.
Most R mount lenses can be used on any R mount camera, but there are compatibility issues with both the oldest and newest lenses. Over time, Leica added features and technology to the lenses that made them incompatible.
