Model Details

Manual focus normal lens made for R-mount 35mm SLR cameras introduced by Leica in 1976. This is the second version of the lens and was produced by Leitz Canada. It changed the optical formula and features higher contrast and improved flatness of the field. The design of the body changed and now incorporates a built-in lens hood and uses E55 filters instead of the older Series VI. This lens has a ROM Cam mount. ROM Cam lenses have a stepped cam like on the 3rd-Cam plus electronic contacts. They are compatible with all R-series cameras. The electronic contacts are only supported on the R8/R9. They will not fit Leicaflex cameras. Metal body available in black (11345).

Leica R

Leica introduced the R system in 1964 as an alternative to their M mount rangefinders and as a response to the successful SLR systems of the time, including Nikon F and Pentax M42. The R system was produced, with some modifications, until 2009.

Most R mount lenses can be used on any R mount camera, but there are compatibility issues with both the oldest and newest lenses. Over time, Leica added features and technology to the lenses that made them incompatible.
