Manual focus normal lens made for F-mount SLR cameras by Nikon starting in 2001. It was released alongside the FM3A and features a Tessar-type lens design. It has no bunny ear metering prongs but does have the AI ridge, AI-S indent, and electronic contacts. This means it will meter with most (excluding F, F2, and Nikkormat cameras) manual Nikon cameras, will work with the advanced program modes of later models, and can communicate aperture and focus information to digital cameras capable of reading the electronic contacts. About 25000 were made in black and about 12000 were made in silver. Metal body available in black & silver.
